I'm sure that I will get many raised eyebrows when you find a page dedicated to legalized brothels on the Mach 25 Media web site. Let me explain my philosophy about this right up front. I believe that anyone should have a right to do anything that they want to in life, as long as it does not harm someone else. However, I do not condone illegal activities, especially those which endanger the lives and health of the people involved. In that regard, I think it is one of the worst ideas of our society to outlaw prostitution in most areas of our country. It is a fact our society must accept that many women (and men) are attracted to this lifestyle because of the money or other factors. When they are forced to live a criminal existence this allows others to prey on them, causing great harm. Nevada is unique in this country because it legalizes the profession, at least for women. When prostitution is legal, it then can be regulated, monitored, and taxed. All women in Nevada's legal brothels are licensed by local police departments and must submit to regular medical examinations. This protects everyone involved and provides for a much better lifestyle than anyone who must ply their trade on a darkened street corner. This illegal activity creates victims, whereas the legal setup in Nevada creates entrepreneurs. |

I have had the great pleasure to work with the Bunny Ranch as an occasional photographer over a period of about two years. They are located about five miles east of Carson City, Nevada, on Highway 50. It was owned by Dennis Hof, until he passed away. It is now run by Madame Suzette (left in above photo). They are (and were) both very kind and generous people, as are all the people I worked with at this location. Contrary to popular myth, the girls here are usually extremely smart, as well as being beautiful. They enjoy their work and they love the people that come to use their services (having a "party" is actually the preferred term). The Bunny Ranch is also the most forward-thinking of these facilities. Case in point is that they were the first legal brothel to accept women as guests. The Bunny Ranch has been featured in many national magazine articles and also on television specials such as HBO's "Cathouse." |

While at the Bunny Ranch, there were many other visitors, including news media who were there to produce segments for television. I was interviewed myself for a segment of ABC News Primetime. Here Primetime producer Muriel Pearson (left) and her camera operator Mira, with Diane Sawyer (center) at the time of my interview. |
