"Apollo 13" was the first movie ever re-mastered into the IMAX format. To celebrate the event, a large red carpet affair was held at Universal CityWalk for the premiere in September 2002. Mach 25 Media and the Orange County Space Society created a display that was front and center in the lobby of the multiplex for the premiere and for the first two weeks of the movie's run.
